Nov 2009 Deans Message:
Dear SLC AGO Chapter members and friends:
Everyone is going full throttle towards the end of the year. In doing so, don't forget to read and pass on the upcoming excellent programming prepared for you by your fellow chapter members. For starters, we are hosting a Thanksgiving Hymn event, co-chaired by Ken Udy and Janet Griffin. Several participants are not chapter members so we ask that you please make them feel welcome to come and join the group. For December, Kate Rockwood has arranged for a quiet Christmas time with Dr. Robert Cundick. Our annual Super Saturday rings in the new year with the Ottley's headlining as our keynote speakers. There will also be a master class and recital by Clay Christiansen.
There is a tendency and desire to always do better than the last year, or better than other groups, and yes, this year will be a great one! In my work I came across an interesting reminder that in the process of teaching and taking classes of all kinds like wood working, pottery, or teaching music it is important to learn what happens to you in the process. For example, Dr. Shinichi Suzuki believed that music was just one of many tools used to teach children how to become beautiful human beings. I am grateful to the whole chapter for the things I have learned by just knowing you. I have learned about kindness, patience, cooperation, generosity, grace, teamwork, cheerleading and so much more. I appreciate all the work you do, the teamwork that has evolved over time and your strengths in those efforts.
Just a quick reminder that Larry Blackburn is chairing the nominating committee,
which is in the process of being selected. Send in your program and nominating
suggestions, volunteer, and other wise make your voices heard to him.
All the best,
Ingrid Hersman, Dean
