What is Pedals, Pipes, and Pizza?
Pedals, Pipes & Pizza (known as PPP) is a half-day event that gives youth ages 4-18 (accompanied by their parent or legal guardian) a brief introduction to the pipe organ and its music.
When is PPP?
October 11, 2025
9:00 am – 1:00 pm
The event starts at 9am and participants will be treated to pipe organ demonstrations, presentations, lunch, and time for each participant to play the pipe organ. The program concludes at 1pm.
Where is PPP?
This year’s PPP is held in Gardner Hall which houses the School of Music on the University of Utah Campus.
Gardner Hall is home to two pipe organs and an organ lab.
After seeing, hearing, and playing the pipe organ, we will have pizza for lunch!

How much does this event cost?
- Nothing–including the pizza! PPP is sponsored by the Salt Lake City Chapter of the American Guild of Organists (SLCAGO) as a benefit to the organ community.
Can I drop off my child and have them attend by themselves?
- No. All children need to be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times.
Do I have to be a member of the AGO (American Guild of Organists) for my child to participate?
- No, you do not. However, you can join here.
Does my child need to know how to play the organ?
- No! This is a great opportunity for all levels and abilities.
Does my child need to know how to play the piano?
- No! Again, this event is for all youth who are interested in learning more about the organ.
What should my child play?
- They can play their favorite piano/or organ song — “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star”, “Chopsticks” — anything goes!
Where do I park?
- Limited parking spaces are available on Presidents’ Circle. Additional parking is available at the Northwest Parking Garage and the Rice-Eccles Stadium. Click here for more details.
Can I play the organ too?
- Unfortunately, this event only allows for youth to play the instruments. However, you can attend other SLCAGO events and become a member for more playing opportunities.
