Halden
Toy
Halden Toy, 31, is an organist and harpsichordist who has been playing the organ since age 10. He studied with Douglas Cleveland, Daniel Kerr, and renowned Bach specialist George Ritchie.
In 2009, he won first place at the American Guild of Organists’ Region VIII competition. In 2014, he was selected as one of eight finalists in the 5th International Organ Competition Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck, and in 2015, he was recognized as one of The DIAPASON’s “20 Under 30.”
Halden has spent much of his time researching historical registration, discovering that it often conflicts with contemporary perspectives on historic practices. He currently lives in Kennesaw, Georgia, where he works for Yamaha Motor U.S. as a technical advisor and performs throughout the area as a substitute organist.
