Hymn Sing and Pie Social 2024

Friday, November 22, 2024

The SLCAGO hosted a hymn sing and pie social on November 22, 2024, hosted by the Taylorsville LDS Stake. Ten organists played hymns of the season for an audience of 60. Many attendees stated that they liked the venue and that there were so many organists participating.

THE INSTRUMENT

The featured instrument was a Möller Opus 10494 16-rank organ. The original nine-rank organ was constructed in 1968 and was restored and expanded in 2023 by Anderson Organ Works. The expansion included seven digital ranks.

The organ is unique because it has two independent Swell divisions. Each Swell division can be coupled to the Great or Pedal division while the second Swell division can be played on the Swell manual. The participating organists enjoyed learning how to take advantage of this unique configuration.
