Super Saturday 2024 Keynote Speaker

Ken Rockwell

Ken Rockwell has been a librarian at the University of Utah’s J. Willard Marriott Library since 1989.
He has over fifteen years of experience with its Digital Library, researching and providing information about its scanned resources in various formats, from pioneer diaries and correspondence to maps and historical photographs.

In 2018 he created the Salt Lake City Religious Architecture Photograph (SLCRAP) collection to illustrate the religious diversity of the city through its religious buildings.

In 2020, he co-founded the Utah Religious Architecture Photograph (URAP) collection as a “crowd-sourced” project to invite the public to share photos of churches and other buildings across the state.

This presentation will highlight those collections and mention others with historical photos on the subject.

About Ken’s Photography Project and Research

The University of Utah’s J. Willard Marriott Library has a photography project in which we invite the public to submit photos of church buildings in Utah: the Utah Religious Architecture Project.

The idea is to create a repository of photos that preserves the architectural details of historic buildings and illustrates Utah’s diverse religious landscape.

The project’s home page is:

Both current and former church buildings (now used for other purposes) are of interest, and both exterior views and interior shots are sought.
